FMI’s Management Consulting Group is seeking a high-energy, self-motivated professional with solid consulting skills to advise the construction industry on the positioning and adoption of technology solutions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for business and construction technologies, and be seeking a consultative role. Working as part of our technology practice, this is your chance to engage in strategy, adoption and advisory work with our industry-leading clients.


This full-time opportunity requires 70-80% travel, and will be based our corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina.


  • Consulting and interacting with people at all levels across a client organization, including senior-level executives
  • Overseeing multiple engagements with multiple clients simultaneously; will be an active participant in all phases of the project lifecycle and will be required to work closely with a variety of internal and external business partners to ensure that all business requirements are met
  • Leading information-gathering sessions with clients, analyzing the information and prioritizing the requirements to gain understanding of the business needs and support their business plans
  • Providing expert input and demonstrated experience with the process, workflow and use of construction technology
  • Delivering presentations upon performing in-depth assessments to investigate, uncover and understand business issues, processes and tech maturity
  • Demonstrating, mapping/integrating disparate AEC technologies to solve workflow, adoption and interoperability inefficiencies
  • Ensuring superior customer service through follow-up, client responsiveness and customer-focused communication; grow and maintain respected, long-term, trusted advisor relationships with customers
  • Performing other duties as assigned


  • MBA or MS from an accredited top-tier college or university required; bachelor’s degree in engineering or building construction a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of professional industry work experience and strong consultative skills
  • Past experience as a director/leader of: VDC, technology group/cmte or implementation team
  • Knowledge of ERP, MIS, construction software, virtual design and construction systems is desired
  • Ability to create and manage process mapping, swim lane diagram, flow diagram, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and PMO updates
  • An understanding and ability to manage requirements traceability matrices
  • Strong speaking and presentation skills, including the ability to gain and retain the attention and involvement of sophisticated and challenging audiences, including senior-level leadership
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to exercise sound independent judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, analytical, problem-solving, persuasive/influencing, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated maturity, integrity and the ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment, both individually and as a team player
  • Experience developing technology strategy and overseeing technology implementation is preferred
