Overview

FMI’s Center for Strategic Leadership (CSL) is looking for a dedicated, driven individual with a passion for leadership to work as a leadership staff consultant. In this exciting, fast-paced and developmental role, you will help develop innovative leadership content to improve our clients’ leadership skills. As a leadership staff consultant, you will experience project variety, deep strategic thinking and team collaboration on a daily basis. We are looking for individuals who are detailed oriented and enjoy thinking deeply about what it means to be a leader.

 

As a CSL Staff Consultant, you will:

  • Perform project management functions on a regular basis including planning, organizing, motivating and coordinating all project resources
  • Develop a deep understanding of the latest thinking around leadership and how to translate that research into actionable content
  • Deliver content to internal and external clients
  • Gain expertise in cutting edge high performing senior leadership teams
  • Increase your self-awareness around your leadership strengths and areas for improvement
  • Learn to effectively give and receive valuable feedback to others for developmental purposes
  • Dive deep into a fast-paced industry to identify future trends and their implications for leaders
  • Learn valuable instructional design skills and utilize them to develop new content (presentations, facilitator scripts, activities) to assist FMI Consultants on training and consulting engagements
  • Gain valuable exposure in a fast-paced consulting firm and insight into what it takes to be successful in the world of consulting

Responsibilities

  • Project Management
    Planning, organizing, motivating and coordinating all project resources
    Managing various consulting and training engagements with people at all levels of the organization
    Assessing client needs, determining project plans, managing client expectations and developing solutions for clients
    Delivering presentations and facilitating training in front of internal and external groups
    Ensuring customer satisfaction through rigorous follow-up, client responsiveness and thorough communication
  • Research
    Latest leadership topics and trends
    What makes a great organization
    How to build highly effective teams
    Industry trends and implications on leadership
    Thought leadership projects covering a wide variety of topics
  • Content Development
    Integrating relevant research and latest thinking into existing training and consulting content
    Creating presentations and facilitator scripts to be used in consulting engagements
    Developing highly interactive exercises for speaking engagements and training sessions
    Publishing research findings and best practices in the FMI Quarterly magazine
    Providing instructional design support for training sessions and consulting processes
  • Business and Leadership Evaluation
    Designing templates for client business and leadership evaluations
    Analyzing organization-specific data to gain a deep understanding of the inner-workings of large organizations and help develop action plans
  • CSL Models and Philosophies
    Developing a deep understanding of the Center for Strategic Leadership’s philosophy on how to build great leaders, great teams and great organizations
  • Leadership Training
    Attending leadership development training events for personal and professional development
  • Frequent Feedback
    Receiving professional feedback to help you grow and develop as a future consultant
    Providing feedback and insight to help other members of the CSL team grow and develop

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD level degree in business, I/O psychology or a related field
  • Passion for leadership development and leadership trends
  • Proven history of strong project management skills
  • Proficient in conducting online research
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Fluent in English (writing, speaking, listening)
